Andy Voggenthaler, Founder

Andy bring his expertise in brand development and strategic partnerships, having developed long-term licensing and business ventures for many companies including General Motors, Nabisco, Hang Ten, DuPont-Teflon, Pebble Beach, and AIG American General   As the key business development executive at Matrix Direct, Andy was responsible for developing a complex yet extremely successful joint venture with AIG American General, which ultimately led to AIG acquiring Matrix in 2007.  Today, Matrix is the leading direct marketer of term life insurance in the country.

An endurance athlete for over 20 years, including competing in the Ironman World Triathlon Championships in Kona, Hawaii, Andy has a passion for sport.

 

Janice Penrose, Executive Director

Janice Penrose brings more than 15 years of expertise in public relations and marketing having worked as a Senior Vice President for Nelson Communications Group (Porter-Novelli Group) and Fleishman Hillard among others.  Janice has represented companies including AT&T, Home Depot, Health Net, Pacific Bell, Sharp Healthcare, SDG&E, and The Leukemia Society of America. 

Janice is an avid runner and an elite masters runner, and she has competed in numerous marathons and half marathons throughout the country. Janice also served as the race chair for the Finish Chelsea’s Run 5K in San Diego in 2011 and 2012.

 

Greg Finch, Director

Greg brings nearly three decades of management and operational experience, having completed more than1 billion dollars’ worth of successful construction projects.  With over 17 years of employment with national builder, DPR Construction, Greg is responsible for all critical aspects of a construction project, resulting in a countless number of satisfied and repeat clients.  In 2012, DPR Construction was named by FORTUNE as #13 of the "100 Best Companies To Work For."

Always seeking to find the elusive balance between professional and personal lives, Greg’s life mantra “Many reach their bridge…few ever cross it”, has compelled him to compete in over 100 endurance events including 7x Ironman finisher, 3x Ironman World Championship qualifier and 2x Hood to Coast, to name a few.  Giving back to a sport that has defined Greg is now more important than competing.  Focused on helping others reach their fitness and racing goals is Greg’s next bridge to cross.

 

Patty Mas, Director

Patty Mas has been running and doing ultra-distance events and triathlons for the last 20 years. She is a spinning instructor at the YMCA, as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professor at Cal State San Marcos. She has completed 4 Ironman distance triathlons and has twice finished the infamous “Death ride” in the Sierra Mountains.  Patty also enjoys sprint triathlons and training with friends, whether it’s on the run or in the ocean. Patty has discovered that her real passion is helping others reach their goals, so Race Guards is a perfect fit. “Getting someone to the finish line is the most rewarding race experience for me”.
